About the Artist
My story begins in Iran where I was born. I have always been attracted to art, however in my pre-adult years it was not allowed due to the circumstances where I lived. Due to our faith, Bahá’i Faith, our home was confiscated in the revolution and we were fearful for our safety. In 1984, I escaped to Pakistan with my oldest son. We lived there for 1 ½ years until we were accepted in Canada as a refugee. After raising my two sons, the passion for art was rekindled.
I am attracted to the abstract side of art using lots of colors. Perhaps it is a reflection of the dark place I Immigrated from. I have tried all forms of medium, oil, wax, acrylic, but seem to get the most enjoyment from using Japanese washi paper.
We moved to Victoria in the spring of 2023. The beautiful landscape with all the flowers are a daily inspiration. It is also where I can spend time with our two wonderful grandchildren.
Once a month, I host a senior ladies class to learn how to paint. We enjoy learning and combine it with great uplifting conversations.
